Our Woodland Nursery

It's official. I've lost my office. Well, not totally lost, but it has been relocated to make room for the newest member of our family arriving this June. That's right... the office/guest room is now a nursery/guest room.

I knew from the very beginning (even way before we contemplated having kids) that I wanted to design a woodland-themed nursery and for it to be gender-neutral. Our house only has 2 bedrooms, including our master, so I knew if we ever have more than one kid, the room had to grow with them. With that in mind, we kept the paint as-is - because I love it and I don't have the patience to find a color that could possibly cover the deep wine walls. Plus, I knew the paint would match well with the furniture I planned to inherit when the time came. Yep, my daughter will be sleeping in the crib I slept in and using the dresser her Nana (my mother) used when she was young.

Before you say anything... yes, we are fully aware of the risks associated with using old baby furniture. Please know my husband and I have put both the crib and dresser through the proper safety tests and installed newer hardware as an extra precaution - we even contacted the original manufacturers for tips. I assure you both pieces are sturdier than most of the baby furniture we've come across.

On to the tour!

I'm sure we'll be making plenty of adjustments and changes when our daughter arrives and we learn what works (and what doesn't), but I'm liking how her room is coming along. I also love that I strategically designed it so our murphy bed still opens smoothly without having to move the room around - because I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in that bed soon enough when I'm not checking on her in her sleep every minute.
